It's hard to make this costume look awesome, but he does it. |
We’ve covered the Emerald Archer,
time to cover the Purple Archer. Wow, that nickname is horrible… Whatever, here’s
Hawkeye’s bio.
Clinton “Clint” Barton’s life as a
superhero began humbly, as a carnival performer. He started with throwing
knives but quickly moved up to archery. His trick shots and near perfect aim
earned him quite a bit of popularity. A short time later, Barton saw Iron Man
and the good works the armored hero did inspired Barton to use his extraordinary
skills for the betterment of mankind. But, like most first time heroes he…stumbled
a bit. He tried to stop a robbery, was mistaken for the thief, and had to fight
Iron Man off. Meeting your heroes never goes like you want, am I right? After that, he met Natasha Romanova, aka the Black Widow. Barton
fell head over heels in love with her…and started committing crimes to impress
her. I’ve heard people doing stupider things
for a woman. He came to his senses sometime later and did his best to reform.
He eventually joined the Avengers with Iron Man’s sponsorship. After that
Hawkeye has been a prominent hero in the Marvel-verse.
It's easier to look awesome in this costume. Just saying. |
Barton has no superhuman abilities
other than his disturbingly accurate name. Bullseye misses more often than
Hawkeye. He uses a number of trick arrows and custom bows to great effect. He doesn’t
have anything as silly as a boxing glove arrow, though. But his skill isn’t
with arrows alone. Basically anything that can be used as a projectile, he can
toss or shoot with amazing accuracy. Knives are always his go-to second choice.
He’s also a skilled hand to hand combatant, for those times when an enemy is
too fast or agile for him to shoot.
Hawkeye has been performing well in
the last couple of years. He was the second hero recruited for the Avengers in
Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. One of my personal favorite animated shows.
He’s cocky, rash, and prone to picking fights with teammate and unlikely
friend, the Hulk. No one said Hawkeye was smart. He spends the first few
episodes on the run, he was framed by Black Widow for stealing SHIELD secrets
and spent time in prison. Despite this, the moment he escapes in a mass
breakout he’s focused on clearing his name and saving people. He also has a
sort of mentor mentee relationship with Captain America. Barton does his best
to impress Cap, and Cap does his best to encourage Hawkeye to do his best. It’s
a beautiful thing. He’s also a major character in Avengers Assemble, the Disney
animated show that is modeled after the movie-verse, and leaves quite a bit to
be desired. He’s basically the same dude, they just change his costume a
little.
Weirdest. Friendship. Ever! |
He’s a major character in the
Avenger’s movie, where he is now a founding member. He’s played by Jeremy
Renner. His part in the first movie is somewhat underplayed. In the first ten
minutes he gets stabbed by Loki’s mind control scepter, and serves as Loki’s
enforcer for most of the movie. He’s eventually recovered, and helps them in
the finale. Shoots hundreds of goons with only a few dozen arrows. Impressive,
impossible but impressive.
I like Hawkeye simply because he’s
insanely brave. Few other people are insane enough to run at guys with
automatic weapons with nothing but a bow and arrows. He’s cocky but kind. He’ll
be the first to boast about his abilities, the thing is, if it involves a bow
he’s usually being 100% honest. He kicks a whole lot of booty, and he does it
in a rather ludicrous purple costume. Like Captain America, he could be said to
be one of the hardest working superheroes, given that he has no superpowers. He’s
got a checkered past, but does his best to make up for his past mistakes. He’s
Hawkeye, and he’ll hit any target. Next time, Can you smell what Black Adam is
cookin’? Black Adam’s villain profile.
You see this, be prepared for an impact and blood loss. |
